Podcast Episode #3: Vibe & Hospitality for Your Home-Based Studio: Our Experience and Some ‘How-To’s For Yours
We are back episode number three of The Beautiful Noise Podcast, episode three!
We talked a lot about tea at the beginning, but it’s important, because we talk about hospitality and vibe in your home-studio.
Here are three highlights from the conversation:
1. “If you don’t feel comfortable in your environment, how is somebody else going to feel comfortable?”
When we talk about studio vibe, we’re really talking about being intentional with what makes you feel comfortable, first. You have to have a space where you can feel fully creative and fully yourself. Once you can align with your environment and be in your grove, you’ll naturally make others feel welcomed to express themselves in the space, too.
2. “If you’re building [a] home-based environment, it is an extension of you.”
Much like the quote before, you can look at your studio, and your space, as a reflection of who you are. You have a skill that will provide value for others, and chances are, if you’re open to being yourself, then your skill has a lot of uniqueness and individuality. So, if you’re working with someone else who wants to explore your style, then being in a studio that reflects it is just another way to get you all in the creative spirit and zone.
3. “Some [artists] might be really signing up to work with you… by trying to adopt different language, it will help you understand that person better, so when they do come in, you bring that vibe.”
Since we talked about being comfortable in your environment twice, this needed to be added as well: after you feel comfortable, how can you make artists feel comfortable?
Have there been times where you want to work with somebody not just because of their skills, but because their personality syncs so much with your own? Or, you know that you both would collaborate and work well together? This is what a lot of artists are thinking about when working with other artists— not just how qualified somebody is, but the angle they’re able to look at your project.
So, when we talk about bringing our own personality to our home studios, there is an element of understanding also how our personality and style can mesh with whatever artist is also within the creative zone of your home.
